Gwell hwyr na hwyrach / Better late than never

Dwi’n siwr bydd llawer o deimladau cymysg ynglyn a’r gaeaf diwethaf. I rai roedd llawer rhy hir, a’r amodau yn gwneud iddi’n anodd neu’n amhosib i fynd am dro oamgylch y Cwm. I eraill roedd o’n amser ardderchog i gael ymarfer eu dringo rhew gyda llawer o’r dringfeydd mewn cyflwr bendigedig. Un peth yn sicr ddaeth o ganlyniad i’r cyfnod oer estynedig yno oedd gohiriad ym mlodeuo llawer o’r planhigion prin a geir yng Ngwarchodfa Natur Genedlaethol Cwm Idwal….. Ond diolch byth, blodeuo a wnaethant! Cymerwyd y lluniau canlynol o’r planhigion arctig-alpaidd wythnos diwethaf o fewn y warchodfa. Digon posib eu bod dal mewn blodau, felly tro nesa ewch chi am dro i’r Cwm, cofiwch graffu ar y llethrau serth, oer, i weld os cewch eich gwobreuo gyda gweld y trysorau bychan hyn.

I’m sure that there will be a lot of mixed fellings about last winter. To some it was a too long with the conditions making it difficult or impossible to visit the Cwm. To others it was a great time to practice some ice climbing with many routes being in good condition. One thing that the prolonged cold spell ensured was the delay in the flowering of the rare plants found in Cwm Idwal National Nature Reserve….. but luckily they did bloom! The pictures of the arctic-alpine plants seen above were taken within the reserve a week ago, so next time you visit Cwm Idwal, keep an eye out on those cold, steep cliffs and you too may be rewarded with a glimpse of these little treasures.
